International
Yoga Day
“Yoga embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action. It is a holistic approach to
health and well-being.” The International Yoga Day is celebrated worldwide every year on
21st June since 2015, and this year too it was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Reliance
Foundation School, Koparkhairane.
The students assembled in the Sports Complex, where the proceedings of the Yoga Day were
conducted. Comperes Shambhavi Singh and Karuna Sharma from class 6 addressed the
assembly by welcoming everyone. The programme began with the school prayer followed by
thought of the day and student’s talk. Mr. Vaibhav Kadu, PE teacher enriched the gathering
talking about the significance and benefits of Yoga in life. The session was taken ahead with
the chanting of shlokas by the students of class 6 who were guided by Ms Abhilasha Tripathi.
The students under the guidance of PE teacher Mr. Vaibhav Kadu, performed different
yogasanas. The different types of standing Asanas such as Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Pada
Hastasana, Konasana and also the sitting Asanas such as Vajrasan, Balasana, Padmasana and
Bhadrasana were performed. This helped the students to know the Asanas and also the
benefits and importance of these Asanas was explained by the teachers to the students as
they performed them. The session came to an end with a meditation session for the students.
