Head Boy

As members of the RFS community, we are asked to think critically, be innovative,

be creative, and embrace diversity. These are some of the values that’ll hold true
within us for a lifetime. Being a part of the Student Council during my time at
Reliance Foundation School, proved to be a tangible introduction to leadership,
responsibility and inclusivity. In an era of competition and comparison, the ethos of
RFS helped build me as a person, as a leader, and a global citizen.

I was introduced to the RFS Student Council when I was selected as the Deputy
Head Boy in the Academic year 2018-19. In my time as the Deputy Head Boy, I had

learnt strategies and techniques which I tried to implement this year. In one of the
lesser-known languages of India, there is a beautiful line that reads, “Apne-Apne Tol
Kahat…” meaning, in a team it is normal to have varied personal opinions but what
matters is that it is crucial to merge those ideas. I had looked up to my seniors and
observed how they would think together from different tangents to solve an issue.

Taking a trip down memory lane, I recall the day our Investiture was held. All
twenty-four of us marched with pride and honour for our institution. As I was

awarded the badge for Head Boy, I was calmly told, “Soham, this is not just merely a
badge, but a responsibility towards all your peers. It bears a promise that you’ll give
your best to make us proud…” These words have influenced me and their essence
has ultimately stayed in my conscience.

At the thriving RFS community, listening to the thoughts and ideas of the people around
me, expanded my horizon. The mindsets that I formed in school, are the ones that drive
me today. Keeping our personal differences aside, we as students learn to engage in, build

and create relations that will last a lifetime. From the bus rides to the lectures, to the
applause at the end of the syllabus, to the friends, to the teachers, to the cafeteria, and the
council. The School and the Student Council is not just a memory anymore, it’s the
inspiring beginning of the journey to metamorphose and evolve.
