Head Girl
Sarrah Nayar
With beads of sweat rolling down my forehead, my heart pumping at a zillion beats per
second and the thrill reaching my legs and making them weak; the moment- I was
declared the Head Girl for the academic year 2020 was surreal. It is easily something that
I would remember for the rest of my life. The sense of personal achievement painted my
heart red.
However, being the Head Girl in a prestigious institution like Reliance Foundation
School was greater than a sense of personal gratification. It demanded from me
dedication, integrity and sincerity in my work as a leader and executor, as a classmate and
as a student. From being the primary source of communication between the
administration and the students to coordinating different events like the sports day and
various inter and intra school functions namely special assemblies, competitions and
community service drives; we (the student body) worked poignantly.
My primary aims as a leader and head of the student body were to bridge the gap between
the students and administration to the extent that it becomes inconspicuous, to make
students see school as “ a home away from home” and establish a sense of team spirit and
regard for the core values which serve as cornerstones of our noble institution. I strived to
be inclusive, emphatic and make the student body put on a unanimous, united and
effortless front.
At the risk of sounding cliché, my experience can be well expressed by quoting
Shakespeare, “Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate”
It was love and grace, beauty and strength all in a single ride.
