The cultural programme began with the charismatic performance of Ganesh Vandana
followed by the exuberant performances of the students through musical drama. “Virasat –
Let’s create a New Tomorrow” exemplifed that history can be a great teacher and source of
wisdom to understand our present or glimpse our future. The historical characters from
different eras visited the students, who found history challenging, where they narrated their
life stories and made them realise the importance of the past. The five historical characters
illustrated how the past is our foundation, the bedrock that allows a stable society to exist;
Emperor Akbar emphasising on peace and communal amity; C V Raman giving importance
to the need of having a basic science culture in our country; Rabindranath Tagore
highlighting the relationship between human beings and nature; Rani Lakshmi Bai
expressing her progressive views on women empowerment; King Ashoka expounding on
ideal governance and administration.
