To make the students aware of the importance of maintaining cleanliness and staying fit, various activities were
conducted for the students of classes 1 to 8 after their regular classes during the week.
A session on Health and Physical Fitness was organised by the PE Department for classes 1 and 2. The session Cultural Fiesta
comprised warm-up exercises like jogging, high knees and one leg hopping, and recreational games. They were
also explained the importance of hygiene and cleanliness with the help of a Power Point Presentation. The
importance of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” campaign was also briefed to them. The students of classes LKG to 3 presented a wonderful

A session on Meditation and Yoga was organised by the PE department for the students of class 6 discussing
Mahatma Gandhi's thoughts on non-violence, peace of mind and meditation. The students practised some
sitting and standing asanas. They intently listened to the lecture on Mahatma Gandhi's thoughts on non-
violence and were moved by the concept of “Self-talk in Meditation”.
A session on Value of Tolerance and Democracy was conducted for the students of classes 7 and 8. They were
shown a video on Fundamental Rights and Duties. The teacher explained key concepts related to the topic.
Further, a Bal Sansad (children's parliament) was set up to discuss these topics. Three volunteers from each class
were appointed as ministers and were given the portfolios of Education, Health and Technology. These students
prepared a one-minute speech on connecting their portfolio to Fundamental Rights and Duties. These ministers
delivered their speech and a discussion was followed by the students enacting the role of Members of Parliament.
The teachers added to their discussion and wrapped up the session by giving important information about
Fundamental Rights and Duties. The students got a first-hand experience in simulating the parliamentary affairs.
A special assembly on Mahatma Gandhi was held on Friday, 2 October 2020. The students of classes LKG to 12 watched
the recording of the entire assembly via Microsoft Teams from 9.30 am to 10 am. The students recited a poem, sang a
bhajan and presented a wonderful dance-drama on an anecdote from Gandhiji's childhood. The special assembly
resonated with the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and inspired the students to practise honesty and truthfulness.
