                             Model United Nations

In today's era of globalisation augmenting skills of persuasiveness,
debating and negotiating have become obligatory. The
educational institutions across the world are striving to provide a
plethora of opportunities to young minds to cultivate and nourish
the qualities of mental agility, confidence and commitment to the
        cause.

Model United Nations is an annual feature of our school activity
calendar. MUN is an activity that empowers students with
knowledge and skills to solve global issues. This year the entire
world is in the grip of the pandemic, COVID-19. Hence there was
a need to investigate possibilities to conduct a virtual MUN
conference and accordingly an online event was held on 24
December 2020. It was a one-day event and around 40 students
from classes 9-12 participated in it. This year we had simulated
one committee, namely, the Disarmament and International
Security Committee and the agenda for discussion was 'Tackling
usage of chemical weapons in Syria'. The entire event was
conceptualized, organized and executed by the members of an
executive board under the leadership of student leaders, Pranav
Rao and Aditya Deshpande from class XI.
Every new task comes with its own set of challenges but the trial
session and several meetings held before the conference prepared
organisers and the delegates well to conduct the conference
online. Student delegates were first made familiar with the
fundamentals of a MUN event. They were then given study guides
