National Science Week Celebration

In Science Week Celebrations students of KDAV from Standard 6, 7 and 8 were asked to perform various activities such as ‘A Scientific Query Box’ for class 8, cartoon activity on various themes such as ‘Circulation of Blood’, ‘Rocket Launching’, ‘Big Bang Theory’, ’Waste Water Story’, ‘Electric Current’ and ‘Seed Dispersal’ for class7 and ‘Hands on Activity - Launching of Rocket’ was for class 6.  

All experts from science department answered 30 relevant queries. The students presented their work beautifully, with their sincere efforts and came up with innovative ideas. From every section, one best art work and three best queries were selected. The students will be awarded on 26th February, during the assembly.

The main focus of the event was the demonstration and explanation of the ‘hand on activity’ by students and teachers, which gave the students an opportunity to share what they have been learning in class with a real life audience.

 It paved the gateway for propagating the importance of science and its application in day -today life.

International Collaborative Activities 2020

As a part of Social Science project on World Heritage Sites, a collaborative activity was conducted by KDAV students from Class 6 in association with SJKT School, Malaysia.

The students of both the schools learnt about the world heritage sites of India and Malaysia and their roles in maintaining the cultural heritage of their countries. They exchanged a Power Point Presentation on World Heritage Sites of their countries with each other. The students also exchanged emails to share their views on the importance of tourism of their countries.

Vasant Panchami Assembly

An assembly was conducted on Vasant Panchami by the students of Primary section. The assembly commenced with the offering of the flowers to Goddess Saraswati by Principal, Vice Principal, Head Mistress and Coordinators. It was followed by National song, National anthem and a Shloka.

The students performed a skit based on Tenali Raman who was known to be blessed by Goddess Saraswati. The dance performance on Vasant Ritu by the students exhibited their innate talent and it made them aware of their culture and tradition.

In a nutshell, the assembly was an enthralling one.

Vasant Panchami (Pre-Primary)

The spring of joy took over when a prayer ceremony worshipping Goddess Saraswati was led by offering of flowers by all the students, staff of the wing and with the distribution of sweets amongst all.

PowerPoint Presentation Competition

A competition on PowerPoint Presentation was conducted for class V students with a view to develop their creativity and thinking skills. As such, 28 students were selected for the finals. In finals, there were 4 groups namely - Mac, Linux, Unix and Windows. Each group comprised 7 members and the presentation of each group highlighted the touch of inventiveness.

The winners were the students from Unix while the second position was secured by Windows respectively.

Commerce Exhibition

The students of Class 11 A and class 12 participated in Commerce Exhibition with great fervor and enthusiasm. They presented models on varied professions in Commerce that may serve as a better career guidance in the subjects as CA, MBA and LLB. They also presented models on Share Market, Internal Trade, Goods and Service Tax, Types of Markets, Vending Machine and so on.

 

Principal, Mrs. Anvita Kackar inaugurated the exhibition. The students of classes 9, 10 and 11 along with their subject teachers gained knowledge about banking, Share Market, Taxation. Various queries of the visitors were clarified by the students in an informative and illustrative manner. Overall, the exhibition inspired the students to explore Commerce as a career option.

Throw ball (2019-20)

K.D.A.V. Sports department has conducted Inter-Section Throw Ball Tournament for class-5 students to develop team spirit and improve stamina among the students. The final match was held between 5A and 5C.The match was won by Class 5A.

 Principal, Ms. Anvita Kackar and Ms. Pinki Saha motivated the entire team with their inspirational speech.

CBSE National Science Exhibition/Fair

CBSE National Science Exhibition was held at Suncity School, Gurugram, Haryana wherein students showcased static and working models that can be used for learning various scientific concepts. . The theme was

‘Science and Technology for Sustainable Development with a Thrust on Water Conservation’. The sub-themes were as follows:

  1. Sustainable Agricultural Practices
  2. Cleanliness and Health
  3. Resource Management
  4. Industrial Development
  5. Future Transport and Communication
  6. Educational Games and Mathematical Modelling.

Students from Class 11 presented their models on ‘Desalination of Water and Electric Generation.’ The Exhibition proved to be a wonderful and enlightening one when 698 schools presented 722 models on various sub-themes. KDAV students were awarded participation certificate.

The exhibition encouraged the students to develop a scientific fervor and an attitude of research mindedness. It enhanced analytical and critical thinking of the students.

US University Mini Fair

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.”-Abraham Lincoln

Career decisions play a pivotal role in shaping the future growth and development of students. In today’s environment of multiple options, knowing about choices available helps children in their decision-making process. A ‘US University Mini Fair’ was organised by KDAV for the students and parents of classes 9 to 12 on Friday, 10 January 2020 with the objective of helping the students to design their higher studies and exploring a range of options that can open new vistas for them. Principal, Mrs. Anvita Kackar and Vice Principal, Mr. Manas Chatterjee graced the occasion.

16 US universities participated in it: The University of South Florida, Miami University, Colorado State University, University of Oregon, University of Kansas, University of Cincinnati , Wayne State University, Youngstown State University, Foothill & Deanza College, Wright State University, Lehigh University, Tiffin University , Pittsburg State University, University of Arizona, University of California – Irvine, University of Tennessee – Knoxville. Representatives of these universities put up their stalls at RSCC lawn to guide the visiting students and parents.

Parents turned up in great number and tried to gather information for their wards’ better future. The Universities’ delegates shared the information about their various programmes, scholarships, admission criteria, documentations, campus life, environment, CPT, OPT, expenses, Visa, accommodation, etc. Our students used this opportunity to clarify doubts and absorb fresh perspectives regarding new career options such as Artificial Intelligence, Exploratory Studies, Substance Abuse Counselling, Biomedical Engineering, Electric Transportation Technology, Molecular Genetics and Genomics, Biomedical Physics, Toxicology and Risk Assessment etc. The fair highlighted upon the new avenues of learning for the students.

In a nutshell it was an enriching and informative experience for all.

Sports Day

The Sports Finale of KDAV recently concluded on a high note of radiance and ardour. The Finale riding on well-coordinated performances by the participants was marked by an enthusiastic ambience. Shri. H. K. Tripathi, Senior Vice-president (Planning & Scheduling), Reliance Industries Ltd. presided over as the Chief Guest with other dignitaries on the dais - the Principal of the school, Mrs. Anvita Kackar and Vice Principal, Mr. Manas Chatterjee. The programme started off  with the Chief Guest hoisting the school flag which was followed by an impressive march past of participating students belonging to the four houses- Hawk, Kite, Falcon and Eagle in their respective  house uniforms.

Rip-roaring applause echoed in the ground during the torch-lighting ceremony as and when the torch was handed by the Chief Guest to the star sportspersons of the school.

The gathering was informed by the Principal about the laudable strides the school has taken on every front and brilliant achievements of students at district, state and national-level sports competitions. She emphasized the fact that the school has been certified ‘Fit India School’ by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

The events included the eye-catching Hula-hoop Drill, the spellbound Gymnastic show, the breath taking Karate and the Aerobics drill. Overall the presentations seemed to reflect the phrase ‘not to rest on one’s ores’.

Christmas Common Assembly

The Christmas common assembly commenced with a passionate English prayer and Shloka which was followed by a melodious Carol singing. A skit was presented with a narrative presentation of the birth of ‘Jesus Christ’ in the form of dance drama that enamored the audience’s attention. ‘The Shepherd’s dance’ and ‘The Angel dance’ were the focal point of the skit. ‘Nukad Natak’ performance by KDAV students captivated the audience. Undoubtedly it was an enriching experience for all.

Mathematics Quiz

On 20th December 2019, Final Round of Mathematics Quiz was conducted for classes III, IV and V .The Quiz was held separately for all the three classes in three different phases: Preliminary Round, Semi-final Round and Final Round. There were four teams in the Final Round – Math Magicians, Infinity Warriors, Number Ninjas, Math Pirates. Infinity Warriors won the competition, both Number Ninjas and Math Pirates secured second position. All the students participated with great enthusiasm and overall the event was a great success. It also paved the way for learning as well.

Christmas was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm. Preprimary was festooned with colourful balloons and confetti. Children performed enthralling dance and a skit adding vigor to the festive atmosphere. The programme ended with a Christmas carol sung by the teachers.

Sports Day (Pre-Primary)

The day began with the declaration of the meet, marking the commencement of the ceremony. The tiny tots entertained the audience with a spectacular hula hoop drill.   The children participated in large numbers in engaging and innovative races like Sprint race, Hurdle race, Puzzle race and Flag race. The programme ended with the Prize Distribution Ceremony wherein medals and certificates were presented to the winners of various sporting events.

Indeed, the day was filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.

Annual Day-2 2019-20

K D Ambani Vidyamandir celebrated its 22nd Annual Day on 30th November 2019 with immense joy and fervor. Mr. Surendra Saini, Site President Reliance Industries Jamnagar, along with his better half, Mrs. Saini graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Honourable Chief Guest, escorted by the other dignitaries and the Principal. Principal, Mrs. Anvita Kackar presented the Annual Report of the session 2018-19 in which she enumerated the various achievements of the school in the scholastic and the co scholastic domains at the regional, state and national levels. The programme also witnessed the felicitation of CBSE Board exam toppers of Classes 10 and 12. Long service Awards were presented to teachers who had completed ten, fifteen and twenty years of service respectively. The gala event was an inspiring and truly motivating story with a lots of vibrant colours, interwoven around the theme ‘Nayee Udaan’. It comprised of extremely appealing skit which was very well knitted with accordingly selected songs and beautifully crafted dances. The Chief Guest Mr. Surendra Saini praised the theme of Nayee Udaan and stated that school plays a vital role in creating an environment that aids the young minds to blossom and provide a platform for individual thinking and holistic development of their personality. The spell binding presentation organized under the meticulous guidance of the Principal will definitely be a memory to cherish for years to come.

Like every year this year also KDAV has celebrated Children’s Day with an aim to create awareness of the rights, care and education of children. Primary section teachers enraptured the students with dance drama programme. Students of classes 1 and 5 viewed movie COCO and ZOOTOPIA in their respective classes. Refreshment was distributed to the students. They all enjoyed the day with mirth and vigor.

Inter House competition was held for the students from classes IX to XI at RSCC. Students’ from each house enthusiastically participated in the competition and made wonderful, amazing models on various topics like Chandrayaan-II, Conic Section, Optical illusion and Principle of Mathematical Induction. The models were assessed on the basis of content, creativity, articulation and presentation. The event concluded by a motivational speech by Principal Mrs. Anvita Kackar.

An Inter House Volleyball Championship was held at School Volleyball Ground. It aims to recognize the combined efforts of all the students in the contest. Total 48 participants participated in the contest and Hawk House bagged the first position. No doubt a gracious moment for all of us.

Happy 150th birthday Bapu (Pre-Primary)

The creativity and talent of the budding artists were beautifully displayed through RFSAC Digital exhibition. The exquisite clay models spread the most important message ‘Equal in Mother Earth’s Embrace’. Children used different medium and themes that touched and inspired them to create heartfelt tribute to Bapu.

Such masterpieces augment a subtle feeling and add intensity to the precision of the art gallery.  There can be no better ambassadors than these blooming buds to showcase their skills for such a noble cause.

The Celebration started with devotional prayer by AHM Ms. Kavita Verma, teachers and students. The dress code for the day being ‘ETHNIC ‘brought out the vibrancy of colours and traditional attires. NAVRATRI CELEBRATION

Navaratri celebration was organized on 30th September 2019, Monday at KDAV Campus. The celebration started with offering prayers and chanting shloka on Goddess Navdurga.

 

The event was well attended by all the enthusiastic students, faculty and staff members. All the participants cherished the music with a vibrant dancing style of Garba and Dandiya Raas, performed by primary and middle school students.

The navratri event became an excellent exemplary of celebration of tradition with joy and fervor to the fullest. The positivity and energy exuberating out of the colourful costumes combined with the enthusiasm of dancing to the Dandia folk songs made the entire day extremely successful and fruitful.

Best out of Waste Activity (Pre-Primary)

The tiny tots participated in this activity which enhanced their creativity to make innovative things. All those things which are waste in our day to day life were used in a constructive manner to make pen holder, paper flowers etc. During this activity they discussed about the recycle and reuse.

A special assembly was organized to celebrate Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The assembly started with prayer followed by Swachh Bharat slogan and pledge. Children of UKG performed nukkad drama to spread awareness about cleanliness.

HINDI EXTEMPORE (CLASS 5)

The Programme started with the gracious speech  by Ms. Indu Singh. She had specified briefly about the programme to the gathering, followed by anchoring of class 5 student Harsh Patel and Kashish Dave. They honoured the judges with a card as a token of love and reverence. Two students from each section of class5 are selected. They were allowed to pick any one topic from the chit and speak on the topic for about 2 minutes. All the students presented confidently. Ms. Piyali Giri and Ms. Ranjini Kumar has helped as scorer. The judges gave  their precious views to guide the students on the same and finally the programme ended with the announcement of the results by H.M. Pinki Shah.

On 20th September the event started with amiable speech by Ms. Rashmi Sharma.

Three students of class 4 Angel Patel, Mahi Patel and Aditi Hirpara introduced the judges and felicitated them with card as a token of love and respect. All the participants presented their views for and against the topic assigned to them. Students showcased their talent with clarity and confidence.  Ms. Shobha Dahiphale and Ms. Shivani Khandpal prepared the score. Before announcing the result both the judges presented their views about the programme. Certificates were distributed during block assembly.

Hindi Diwas (Pre-primary)

Hindi Diwas was celebrated on 13th September, 2019 in the school to acknowledge the importance of Hindi as an official language.  The celebration began with a speech on the importance of Hindi language and followed by Nukkad drama. Later students of UKG danced to the rhythm of ‘Taare Zameen Par’ which was indeed a delight to the eyes beholders.

‘Cooking without Fire’ activity was conducted for classes of UKG and LKG conducted on 11th September 2019. UKG prepared ‘basket chaat’ and LKG made ‘bhel’. Young learners tried out this activity with great enthusiasm. They discovered that cooking can be a creative, easy and safe experience that is as much fun as it is to eat the yummy delights.

International Collaborative Activities 2019 (Pen Pals Activity)

To inculcate international learning in the curriculum, KDAV students participated in collaborative learning activities with their peers of various schools located in USA and Malaysia.

The Pen Pals activity was conducted on regular basis by KDAV students of class 2. It enabled them to learn about different people and appreciate the diverse culture in USA.

 Our school has collaborated with a group of schools in USA for this activity which include Benner Elementary School, Bellefonte Elementary School, Marion Walker Elementary School and Pleasant Gap Elementary School.

The Pen Pals introduced themselves and also shared details of their families, schools, hobbies, festivals, etc.

The journey of collaborative activities made their learning joyful and experiential. It also encouraged the global citizenship and 21st century skills among the students.

Teachers’ Day Celebration

Teachers’ Day Celebration was held with fun and gaiety on 5th of September 2019. The programme commenced with a tribute to Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan by Ms. Anvita Kackar, Principal, Mr. Manas Chatterjee, Vice Principal and the entire leadership team. Students extended their gratitude towards their teachers through Guru Vandana which was followed by a cultural programme where students presented different song and dance performances as well as a beautiful skit to express their love and respect for their beloved teachers.

Epiphany – Literary Fest

Epiphany - the Literary Fest, an inter-school literary competition was organised by K D Ambani Vidyamandir at RSCC Auditorium. Twelve prestigious schools from Jamnagar and Gujarat participated in the event. It served as a platform for students to showcase their talent as well as to inculcate team spirit. The Chief Guest, Col. Subin Balakrishnan, in his keynote address emphasized on nurturing and treasuring the students in a manner, that leads them into the realms of fresh discoveries. The event consisted of Verse – Poem Recitation Competition for classes 6 to 8, Thrust Talk – Extempore Competition for classes 9 and 10 and Verbal Duel – Debate Competition for classes 11 and 12. Doyens, the debating team of K D Ambani Vidyamandir, secured the second position in the Debate competition. Karma Patel of XI-B of K D Ambani Vidyamandir and Naman Dudharia of DPS Rajkot bagged the Best Speaker trophies for speaking in favour of and against the motion respectively. Priyanshee Dave of 10-F of K D Ambani Vidyamandir secured the second rank in Extempore competition. Nand Vidyaniketan School, Jamnagar was the Overall Champion while DPS Jamnagar was the runner-up.

The session started with a traditional lamp lighting and aarti. The students were explained about the significance of the festival. Children showcased dance and skit based on the life of Ganesha. The whole atmosphere was charged with festivity.

Janmashtami Celebration (Pre-Primary)

The programme commenced with the offering of flowers to Lord Krishna by Principal and Vice Principal which was followed by spectacular performance by UKG children. The students dressed up as Radha and Krishna, giving a traditional touch to the entire celebration.

 The centre of attraction was ‘Matki phod’ event- a mark of the mischievous nature of ‘Bal Gopal’. The programme concluded with a splendid garba dance.

Independence Day Celebration

Independence day was celebrated in KDAV with great enthusiasm and patriotic zeal. The students and the teachers gathered on the school Annual Day Ground. The programme started at 7:00 am. The programme started with the hoisting of the Tricolour by Ms. Anvita Kackar, Principal. Khushi Upadhyaya of Class 11 and Riddhi Vadher of Class 12 eloquently expressed their tributes to martyred soldiers.

The students of class V to XII then attended the Independence Day celebration at RSCC. The site President Shri S. S. Saini hoisted the National Flag. It was followed by the march past by KDAV Physical Education students, NCC Cadets, Reliance Security Force and CISF. 400 students of classes VII and IX presented a cultural event ‘A tribute to soldiers’. Their spellbinding performance showcased a heartfelt tribute to the supreme sacrifice made by the known and the unknown soldiers of our country. The thoughtful theme of the dances sparked a patriotic fervour among the audience. The performances were well appreciated by the spectators. The programme also included a group song, a group dance and a flash mob by the residents of Reliance Greens. The programme also witnessed the felicitation of CBSE Board exam toppers of Classes 10 and 12.

Independence Day (Pre-Primary)

The students of LKG and UKG participated in a special morning assembly. Celebration began with an impressive march parade, vibrant dance performances and soulful poetry recitation.   Some students dressed up as freedom fighters. Their enthusiasm was portrayed when they delivered the famous slogans of the freedom fighters, as whom they dressed up.  

Eventually, the day created an ambience of patriotism all around.

Drishti Art and Essay Writing Competition

Drishti Art and Essay Competition was held on 11th August, 2019 where students from classes 1 to 11 (age between 5 to 16 years) had participated. The programme was conducted in two phases: Drawing and Essay Writing. The competition for Essay writing was for the students between age group 11 to 16 whereas the Art competition entailed the students of the age group of 5 to 10 years. The students were divided into two groups for Drawing as well as for Essay writing. The total no of students participated in the program were 3130 in number.

PATRIOTIC SONG (CLASS 4 and 5)

It is imperative to instill the spirit of patriotism in children so that the true value of independence remains etched in their mind. Students of classes 4 and 5, imbued with the love of their motherland, participated in Hindi Patriotic Song conducted by the primary section of KDAV on 9th August 2019. Students participated with lot of enthusiasm. For the first time the students played the musical instruments along with the song live.  The essence of patriotism was visible amongst the students.

The Inter-House Heritage Quiz was held on Saturday, 3th August 2019. Students were quizzed on various topics related to Indian heritage and culture like folk songs, dance, musical instruments, monuments, and natural heritage. It consisted of eight rounds namely Warm-Up Round, East and West, Pehchan Kaun, Take Your Pick, Khel-Khel Mein, Mixed Bag, Audio-Visual round and Rapid Fire. The first position was bagged by Hawks House followed by Kites House in second position while Falcon House secured third position the competition.

COGNIVISION 2019 (Senior)

17 students of the school participated in the COGNIVISION-2019 organized by Nand Vidya Niketan-Essar School, Jamnagar on 27th July, 2019. The participating students left an indelible mark on the competition by lifting the Championship Trophy. The interschool fest saw the participation of 14 elite schools of the region. Our students participated in ‘Create and Enact’ ‘Mixed Media on Canvas’, Mathematical Model making competition and Powerpoint Presentation’. The school bagged the Runners-up position in ‘Create and Enact’ (Skit competition) ‘Mixed Media on Canvas’ and Powerpoint Presentation’. Baala Chourasiya, Kavya Savani, Harshita Ghosh, Dimpy Vachhrajani, Aadya Pandita, Arnav Matange, Ethan Titus, Amrita Gururajan. Inter house Carrom competition (Senior)

An Inter-House Carrom Competition was held on 26th of July (Semi-final) and 27th July 2019 (Final) in which 32 boys and 32 girls took part from middle section and senior section.  In Boys’ group (Middle section) Eagle House bagged the first position followed by Kite house which ranked second and Hawk House stood third. In the Girls’ group (Middle section), Falcon House stood first, Hawk House ranked second and Eagle House stood third in the competition. In the senior section, the Boys’ group of the Falcon House stood first, followed by Kite House and Hawk House ranked third. The Girls of senior section of Eagle House ranked first followed by Hawk House and Falcon House.

English Drama (primary – class 5)

Drama is a strong medium of communication. In order to develop dramatic skills and promote acting ability among students, Primary section organized an Intersection English Drama Competition in RSCC on 26 July 2019 at 11.30 am for Class 5. All nine sections of class-5 consisting of 120 participants in total took part in this fun-filled competition.The performances were judged by Ms. Reshma Nair and Ms. Khyati Bhatt.

The judges reiterated the importance of dramatics in the overall development of children during their formative years. All the performances were highly appreciated.

‘Tenali Rama and the Body Builder’ staged by class 5G stood first in the competition followed by ‘Snow White and Seven Kachus’ put up on stage by class 5B which stood second.  ‘Tenali Rama and the Thieves’ enacted by the students of class 5E were placed as third in this drama competition.

The students and teachers of primary played a spirited role in the organization and administration of this competition.

Special Assembly: Kargil Diwas Celebration (Senior)

A special morning assembly was held on the occasion of Kargil Day Celebration. Havaldar Virender Singh from 9D Para commando group and Havaldar Madan Singh from 401 light AD regiment attended the assembly as Guests of Honour. Both the ex-soldiers had actively participated in KARGIL war that took place in 1999. The audience were rendered mesmerised by the narration of their experiences in the war.

Inter-house English Debate Competition (Senior)

Inter House English Debate Competition was held on 20th July in RSCC. The competition was held at two levels, one for classes 9 & 10 and the other for classes 11&12. The topics for 9 & 10 was “Are movies good tools for education?” and the topic for 11 & 12 was “Should mankind invest in space exploration?” Judges to grace the occasion were- Mr. Abhay Matenge, from Special Task Force, RIL and a member of the celebrated Toastmasters International Club and Mrs. Sarala Rao, a distinguished member of the school’s English Faculty.

In the 1st group i.e. 9 & 10- Pahal Shah of class 9th A was declared as the Best Speaker.  In the 2nd group i.e. 11 & 12- Trisha Biswas of class 12th was declared as the Best Speaker. Hawks House bagged the 1st position. Kites House was placed Second while Falcons and Eagles were placed Third and Fourth respectively.

General Quiz (Primary)

General Quiz for classes 3rd to 5th was conducted on 11th July, 2019, in the RSCC hall. It was conducted as a part of learning process, a game of mind, intellect, interest, knowledge, power and joy for the students. The general quiz was graced by the presence of Ms. Anvita Kackar, Principal of KDAV, Ms. Pinki Saha Headmistress (Primary), Ms Sheela Iyer (Co- ordinator) and Ms. Smitha Nair( Asst. Co- ordinator). The audience included all the teachers and students of classes 3rd to 5th.
There were four teams named after rivers - Team A - Mighty Brahmaputra, Team B -Graceful Ganga, Team C -Shimmering Yamuna and Team D – Bountiful Narmada. The competition included 5 rounds. The audience were very enthusiastic and enjoyed a lot. Team B-Graceful Ganga was declared as the winner. The runners up were Mighty Brahmaputra followed by Shimmering Yamuna in the third position and Bountiful Narmada in the fourth position. The event culminated with an inspiring speech given by Ms. Pinki Saha.

Earth Day Celebration

The Environmental Science Department organized Earth Day Assembly Programme on 24th June 2019 in order to create awareness about the need to save this Blue Planet and different species living in it. The Primary School students participated in the programme with enthusiasm. It started with English prayer which was followed by Hindi shloka, thought of the day, Environment News, Informative interaction with the audience and a skit.

Inter House Football Championship for Middle Section was organized on 22nd June 2019. Eagles House bagged the first position and was followed by Hawk House as the runner-up. Falcon and Kite stood third combined.  Ved Patel of Class VIII B was announced the best player of match.

International Yoga Day Celebration

The International Day of Yoga is celebrated every year round the world to raise awareness about the many benefits of practising yoga for improving health. The Fifth Annual International Yoga Day was celebrated in the school premises on 21 of June 2019 keeping in tandem with the theme for this year ‘Yoga for Climate Action’. Ms Radha Mohan, Yoga instructor, RSCC, was the Chief Guest of the programme. The entire staff along with Primary and Middle School students attended the Yoga session. Organised by Physical Education Department, Physical Education students delivered speeches on the importance of Yoga and significance of Yoga Day Celebration around the world. The session started with Surya Namaskar followed by different other Yoga exercises conducted by the Yoga Club students under the able guidance of Ms. Radha Mohan.

A life-skills workshop was organized to empower the teachers with the ability to remain positively charged throughout. Attended by all the staff, it comprised of a powerful life-skills program, taken up by Mr. Tushar Panchal and Ms. Priyanka Jadeja that focused on tendencies of human mind and ways to absorb the repose and all the positivity around us, and help us to discharge stress, inhibitions, bad habits, and barriers. Workshop on Difficulties in Hindi Language Teaching

A workshop on the topic ‘Difficulties in Hindi Language Teaching’ was organized in the school. It was conducted by Mr. Ravi Prakash Gupta, an eminent educator and writer of Gulmohar Vyakaran. It was attended by the entire Hindi, Sanskrit and Gujarati faculty. The primary objective of this workshop was to find interesting ways to teach Hindi to students who do not have a good grip on this subject.

Inter House Table-tennis competition

Inter House Table Tennis Tournament was held on 27th April 2019. A total of 48 students from the Middle and the Senior sections participated in the event. The enthusiasm level of the participants and audience throughout the programme was remarkable. The tournament saw an equal number of winners from all the four houses playing under different categories namely Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Naman Jani of Class 11 D and Sonal Sharma of 10 D were adjudged the best players in the Senior Boys and Girls category while in the Middle section, the honours went to Harsh Panara of Class 7 and Pranjal of Class 8D.

World Earth Day (Pre-Primary)

The toddlers of KDAV celebrated World Earth Day to create awareness about protecting our planet and preserving the environment. 

A special assembly marked the event wherein the children had dressed up according to the theme of reduce, reuse and recycle to spread the message of saving the environment.  The students showcased their talent through their parade and ebullient speeches. This dynamic show was concluded with the encouraging words by AHM Ms. Kavita Verma who lauded the dynamic performances of the children.

Inter-House Clay-Modelling Competition

The Inter-House Clay-Modelling Competition was organized by the Art Department under the guidance of Mr. Gagji Monpara with the objective to inculcate creativity and competitive spirit among students. The topics were given on the spot. For Middle School students the topic was Swchchhata Abhiyaan while for Secondary School students the topic was Fire Fighters Fighting Fire. Ms. Pallavi Kalita and Ms. Rakhi Pawar were the esteemed judges. In Middle school, the first position was bagged by The Kites and in senior school section, the first rank was secured by The Hawks.

Inter house Swimming competition

Inter-House Swimming Championship was held in the RSCC Swimming pool on 20th April, 2019. A total of 60 participants (boys and girls) took part in this competition. The swimmers were in the age group of 12-18 years, and involved Middles and Senior students.  The students participated in various events like 50m and 100m free style for boys and girls; 50m and 100m back stroke for boys and girls; 50m and 100m breast stroke for boys and girls; 50m butterfly for boys and girls; 100m butterfly for boys; 200m freestyle for boys and girls; 4×50m Free Style Relay for boys and girls; 4×50m Medley Relay for boys. The students displayed their swimming abilities to their best. The Hawks were adjudged the winners in both boys and girls, whereas the runners up were the Falcons followed by the Eagles in the third position and Kites in the fourth position.

Fire Safety Week

Fire Safety Week was observed in KDAV as part of Disaster Management Programme. Students of classes IX to XII participated in the Fire Safety Drill held on 11th April 2019. The teachers of the respective classes and staff members too witnessed the drill. The firefighters acquainted the students with various tools and techniques used during an emergency. It was an interactive session and students thoroughly enjoyed the practical demonstrations of firefighting skills.

Next Day, a Fire Safety Talk Competition was held for the students of classes VII and VIII. The students participated enthusiastically in the competition. The first position was bagged by Shreepriya of class VII and Sayee Bhakare of class VIII, the second position was secured by Hiya Shah of class VII and Atharv of class VIII. The third position was secured by Hasti Kaila of class VII and Harsh Dudhatra of class VIII.

WORLD WATER DAY

K.D. Ambani Vidyamandir celebrated the World Water Day on 8th April, 2019 in the school premises. A special assembly was put up by the students of class V. The assembly began in the presence of the chief guest, Mr. Manoj Dubey (Principal, DPS, Rajkot), Principal, Vice-principal, teachers and students.

The programme comprised of a prayer on water, Sanskrit shloka, a relevant thought and some interesting water updates around the world. The special features of the assembly constituted of a speech on the importance of conserving water and some thought-provoking facts about water scarcity and its consequences. A Nukkad Natak was presented to sensitize the students about water shortage. In addition, a thoughtful mime was presented to raise awareness about the need of water conservation. The chief guest shared his views highlighting the measures one should adopt to fight water shortage. The variety of the programme enthralled the audience. In the end the Principal urged the students to save every drop of water.

Republic Day Celebration

70th Republic Day was celebrated at KDAV with a great deal of patriotic zeal and fervor. The day began with the hoisting of the Indian flag by Anvita Kackar, Principal followed by the National Anthem.  At RSCC (Reliance Sports and Cultural Centre), the school band, the NCC students (boys), boys and girls platoon participated in the march past along with CISF and the security   platoon.

     A cultural programme on the theme ‘Clean India’ and consisting of different dances mesmerized the audience. The colorful and the vibrant performance was enjoyed and appreciated by all.

Childrens’ Day Celebration

K D Ambani Vidyamandir celebrated Children’s day with great fervour and gaiety to commemorate the birthday of the first Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawarhalal Nehru. A Cultural Programme was presented by the teachers for the students. Both teachers and students shared a warm and cordial time together.

The teachers, with their entertaining acts, ensured that the students had an enjoyable time. With melodious singing performances, thought provoking and humorous skits, energy-packed dance numbers and the timely and hilarious presentation of popular advertisements, the programme indeed was a memorable one.

Navaratri Celebration of Pre-primary

In Gujarat, Navratri is a community event, where people perform Garba to please the Goddess.

To mark the occasion, Pre-primary Wing jointly organized Navratri Celebration. The celebration started by offering prayers to Goddess Navdurga and was followed by Garba.

All children celebrated the event with fervour. It was a colourful event with teachers joining the students enthusiastically in their Garba dance.

Independence Day

Special assembly on Independence Day was conducted at Pre-primary Wing. LKG and UKG children participated in this assembly. The programme was anchored by the students only. Some of the students came dressed as freedom fighters (Rani Lakshmi Bai, Bhagat Singh, Lala Lajpat Rai) and they spoke about their respective freedom fighter. A special dance was also performed by the students.

No Flame, No Fire Cooking

Pre-primary children celebrated cooking without fire by preparing salad with fruits, ladoos with biscuits.

Teachers shared information related to different recipes and their nutritional values. Teachers educated children about the  merits and demerits of various food items and cooking techniques.

Most importantly they motivated children to work together towards a healthier life style.

Common Assembly – Save Water

The Primary School students presented an assembly in the PR- 2 Ground. The topic for the assembly was Save Water. The programme started with a motivational thought. 

A  ‘Nukkad Naatak’ was presented which revolved around the significance of saving water and humorously captured different scenes from daily lives during which water is wasted in great amount. This show was presented beautifully by the students of the Middle section. The Primary School students presented a skit on ‘Save Water followed by a beautiful dance. The programme ended with a poem on Save Water.

Earth Day Celebration

Earth Day was celebrated by the Primary Wing at PR–2 Assembly Ground with great enthusiasm. A special assembly was conducted which included a skit and a speech.   

In addition, a ‘Nukkad Natak’ was presented by the students of the Middle Section. Class room activity was conducted in which children prepared badges in the FA-period and wrote slogans based on the theme.

Students took the pledge to end plastic to make the earth a better place to live in.

Heritage Week Celebration

World Heritage Week was celebrated by the Primary Wing of KDAV with enthusiasm. On 18th April a presentation on World Heritage sites of India and Gujarat and Seven Wonders of the world was shown to all the students. 

A quiz activity on Heritage was conducted on 20th April in all the classes. 

A special assembly was conducted to mark the Heritage Day with an aim to ingrain in children the values of culture and preservation of heritage.

Students of class 3 presented a beautiful song on our rich heritage with an enchanting dance performance. It was followed by a speech giving information about various monuments of India. An informative skit on the preservation of heritage was presented by class 5 students.

At the end of the skit, students pledged to strive earnestly to preserve their glorious heritage and pass on this tradition unblemished to the coming generations.

Investiture Ceremony

The Primary School faculty nominated candidates for the council and then students and teachers of the Primary School voted to elect the candidates for various positions. 

Prefectural board marched in, with heads held high, to the beautiful beats of the school band. The newly appointed Council members were adorned with sashes. The Principal, in her speech, emphasized on the importance of discipline and dignity of the individual and the school.

The new Head Boy, Darshil Shah and Head Girl, Shuhani Nath promised a definite change for the better tomorrow with great conviction.
